Joint Activities LDA frequently joins with other organizations to work on important legislative issues. June 2005: Responsiveness to Intervention and Learning Disabilities: A report prepared by the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities representing eleven national and international organizations (including LDA of America). More (PDF, 272KB) February 2005: A Roundtable of organizations working in the field of specific learning disabilities issued joint recommendations for proposed regulations on the 2005 Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA). More October 2004: A consortium of disability and other groups have joined LDA in issuing a Joint Statement on NCLB, recommending critical changes to the existing No Child Left Behind law. More July 2004: Easter Seals is conducting a campaign, "Full Participation for All," designed to improve access to employment, health care, housing, transportation, education and exercise of voting rights for individuals with disabilities. The main thrust of the campaign is the circulation of a petition that will be delivered to policy makers at all levels of federal, state and local government in order to drive awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. December 2003: LDA joins other leading learning disabilities organizations in Joint Statement regarding Students with Specific Learning Disabilities and the No Child Left Behind Act. January 2003: LDA joins with other advocacy organizations to advocate for the positive behavioral support needs of students with significant social, emotions, and/or behavioral difficulties.
